Wooden toys might not be as attractive as the electronic toys, but in the long run they are much more beneficial for your kid. A toy made of wood is the most authentic toy, which has been in use from the ancient days. The electronic toys came into use much later. These toys are more attractive to the kids, as they can move with the use of battery. However, a wooden toy can help in the physical and mental development of a child.

  • The wooden toys are going to remain with your kid forever, as they are very strong and sturdy. In fact, a child can rarely be able to break that toy.
  • Children like to lick or bite their toys while playing. A wooden toy is much safe and it does not associate any physical hazard, unless it is colored. In case of colored wooden toys, you must check whether the color is lead free or not.
  • The wooden toys improve the imagination power of your kid. Since these toys can not perform any pre-determined operation, the child can find out different ways to play with the toy. This enhances the imagination power of the brain, making him more innovative in his thinking process.
  • Most of the wooden toys are associated with some kind of educational or developmental benefit. The wooden puzzles are very useful in enhancing the problem solving capacity. It also helps to develop hand and eye co-ordination of the kid. Similarly, the wooden push and pull toys help the kids to advance their gross motor skill. The wooden bead sets helps to improve reasoning skill.
  • Once your child discovers that he can play with the wooden toys in so many different ways, he will grow more affinity to these types of toys instead of the motorized electronic toys. A piece of wooden toy can become the most valuable possession for your kid, with which he can spend the major part of his childhood.

So next time when you purchase any toy for your kid, you better choose a wooden one so that your child can learn many things at a time while playing with this toy.

My kids have always had wooden toys. They are built to outlast the common plastic or electronic toys.
