First, make sure that your walking workouts are varied, and not boring. You will want to have a variety of walking trails or courses that you go through, and vary how you walk. If you do the same path, and the same speed every day, it will become monotonous, boring, and easy to skip. If you set up a variety of workouts and locations, you will be more likely to go, and you will be getting more out of it.
Start by choosing a variety of places to walk with different scenery and different terrains. Then, create workouts that go along with them. For example, choose a hilly path for a wonderful hill workout. This will help work the glutes and thighs, and will target some of the muscles you don’t get when you do a basic walk. On a path that is fairly flat, consider doing an interval workout. This is a walking workout where you speed walk for specific time throughout the walk. For example, you might start by walking 3 minutes at normal pace, then do 3 minutes of speed walking, followed by 4 minutes normal pace, then 4 minutes of speed. Do that, increasing an extra minute, until you reach the amount of time in which you allotted for your workout. You may also want to do some sculpting moves, or use weights, do lunges, and other things while walking.
Next, make sure that you go consistently. If you want to walk off ten pounds in just one month, you can’t go sporadically. Instead, you need to be sure to go every day, taking off only one day a week. The best way to make sure you go on a regular basis is to have a walking buddy that you meet up with. Usually people will walk on a regular basis if they have a friend to do the walking with. In addition, you should have a set time that you meet each day to go. Give yourself further motivation to walk your ten pounds off by doing things like putting your skinny jeans up on the wall, and figuring out what incentive you would need to make it happen.
If you want to walk off ten pounds this month, just make sure that you combine your walking with healthy eating, proper rest, and the like. If you walk a thousand miles, but then eat 4000 calories, it is not going to do you much good. Instead, walk your miles, and eat healthy foods that encourage health and weightloss, such as vegetables, fruits, and lean meats.
