How to Make Your Kids Vacations Fun-Filled and Enriching
57
So, the vacations have begun and your kids are loitering about aimlessly in a holiday mood? Well, we must never forget that each day in our life is a precious opportunity to learn and experience something new. So, when even a moment wasted is an irrecoverable loss, why should we, as parents, allow our kids to waste their entire vacation period in a directionless and purposeless way? This article talks about how we parents can make our kid’s vacation fun-filled while at the same time, teaching them something useful.
Scrabble and other word games
Word games such as scrabble are excellent means of sharpening your child’s brain. This board game needs no companions or opponents. Even if there is a single kid in your home, you can engage him with scrabble or any other word games. They tend to focus on earning points by building words out of letters and enjoy themselves in the process, while at the same time, enriching their vocabulary.
Puzzles
You can use either number puzzles, word puzzles, mazes, picture puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, or a wide variety of any other puzzles in order to sharpen your kid’s brain. The child learns to use logical reasoning in order to assemble and arrange all the pieces of puzzle in correct order, while simultaneously deriving a lot of fun through the entire process.
Learning photography
Teach your kid the basics of photography and shower him with a few good tips on how to use the camera. Ask him to take snaps of all the family members and create a family tree. You never know, if your kid is truly inclined towards photography, then this activity can actually lay the foundation to a mainstream career in photography. He is sure to thank you for your endeavors in teaching him photography skills at such an early stage.
Bring home pets or aquarium
If your kid loves pets, then you can bring home his favorite pet. Alternatively, if you want him to have minimum contact with pets, then you can smartly opt for pet fishes. Involve your kid in building an aquarium and bringing home a pet fish. Your kid would never say he is bored after you get a pet home. This activity aids in inculcating feelings of kindness and generosity towards animals and other living beings.
These activities are sure to make your kid’s vacations fun-filled, while at the same time, teaching them certain skills and values.

Hi Debbie, we go for scrabble and puzzles. Our kids love the idea of having a pet, but they are not that responsible yet to keep one alive.
