1. Take your dog to the nearest veterinary doctor. Be sure that she is healthy and free of any infection and diseases. This automatically ensures that the chance of complication at the time of delivery is less in case of your healthy bitch. All vaccines should be given to your dog before pregnancy. 2. A pregnant bitch needs extra nutrition. Appetite of a pregnant dog increases. Allow her to eat as much as she likes in between first six weeks. But after six weeks do not allow her much food because if she becomes overweight the complication may occur at the time of delivery. Most of the doctor advice that a mother dog should eat puppy food right from the beginning so that the mother and the puppy get extra nutrition. This food helps to develop puppies normally in their mother’s womb. Supply meals frequently in small amount because the bitch cannot eat much at a time.
3. Exercise is important to keep your dog in proper shape. If your dog becomes overweight her delivery will get complicated.
4. Some dogs show morning sickness. But if it persists for more than ten days do not forget to consult the vet.
5. At the end of the gestation period when your dog becomes restless and needs to urinate frequently or digs at the nest you have made for her, then you can be sure that delivery time is near.
