Different types of Construction Toys

Kids are fond of toys and if you want to keep your child occupied for long hours, there is nothing more useful than the construction toys. These toys are so effective, that your child will spend hours after hours in building and constructing new things and by that time you can easily finish off some of your most important works. This type of toys can be used for the children and kids of all age. As the simplest one can be played by a preschooler, the most complicated one might require an adult brain to assemble everything right in place. These are also very much beneficial in terms of development of the child. Generally there are three types of construction sets, which are interlocking blocks, blocks connected with magnets and blocks connected with tools.

The interlocking blocks can be made of wood or plastic. Mainly these sets have been designed for the preschoolers. Initially your child would love to play with large interlocking blocks, as she can identify them clearly. Within few months she will be accustomed with the technique and then she will be able to handle a smaller sized blocks. But, the small sized blocks have a choking hazard for the little ones. As the child grows, the block size can become smaller.

The big sized magnetic blocks are also suitable for the toddlers, as it does not require any effort to attach. Since these are made of metal, so durability is much higher. But, the blocks are slightly heavy in comparison to the plastic or wooden blocks.

The constructional tool set is definitely meant for older kids as they are quite complicated to set up. If your child is an expert of building blocks, then probably she can manage to construct something as per the guidelines. Normally, the tool sets are made from metal and the individual components are colored. The coloring should be done by lead free paint. These sets are not suitable for young kids as they are difficult to assemble and have a serious choking hazard for a toddler. Some of the tool sets are so challenging, that even an adult can spend hours in constructing.
