Pre-schoolers can be a bundle of energy. Everything is new; and so they are always exploring the world around them. However, their busy inquisitive nature can become a problem for their moms especially if they have work at hand. So to help you, here are five ways to entertain preschoolers that every mom should know:

  1. If your child loves to read, then nothing can be more enjoyable than a good children storybook. If there is one that he loves the most and has memorized it, let him tell the character’s lines next time you are having a story session. A variation of this can be playing librarian where you arrange all the books and your child gets to be the librarian. Borrow books from time to time which of course you then read to him. The hours will fly away in this imaginary library for you and your child.
  2. You can help him make a train out of empty cardboard boxes. Play some nursery rhymes or his favorite music and give him bandanas and hats as costumes. He will play for hours in his imaginary railroad while you go ahead and finish your work.
  3. Your child can create an animal with chenille sticks while you are on the go or at the dentist’s office. You can ask him the animal’s name or tell a story about it. This versatile toy keeps your toddler engaged for even a relatively lengthy period of time.
  4. Play dough is another great way to entertain your child. If you are cooking and want to keep your child engages, let him play with a big batch of dough. If you can supply more than one or two colored dough, then it is all the better. Your pre-schooler will have a gala time mixing and molding them into different shapes.
  5. Coloring is another great entertaining way to engage your toddler. There are many online sites that offer free printable coloring pages which you can download. Let him choose the coloring sheets from the vast collection that most of these sites have. You can even color them online and also play various kids’ games that are available there. It is another great way to spend quality time with your pre-schooler.
