3 Great Ways to Help Improve the Speed with Which Your Child Learns At An Early Age

Children learn at various speeds in their early years. Some can learn things super fast and can retain almost all the information straight away. On the other hand, some kids take a while before they can grasp a concept and retain the basics. As parents, it can be frustrating to see your child struggle in school and naturally you want to help. There may not be much you can do, but, there are few things that may help. For example, some kids learn things much easier when they can see how it is used in every day life.

1.    If your child is having issues grasping maths concepts such as addition, subtraction or multiplication, play mathematical games like multiplication games in every day life at home. If the issue were addition, you could include addition when serving dinner. When serving something like potatoes, ask the child “If you already have 2 potatoes and I give you 1 more, how many will you have?” Simple things like this can help a child fully understand some concepts.

2.    That is one way in which you could help. Another is by simply testing their knowledge on something the teacher had taught them that day at school. Ask to see the work they did and judge for yourself how much or little you should be testing them on. If the topic was spelling and they had a spelling test that day, find the words they got wrong and test them again on how to spell them. Of course, don’t push them, because that isn’t going to help their attitude towards the subject. Spread out the test over a portion of the night, there is no need to do it all at once. For example, if they are having a major issue with one particular word, ask them once before dinner and then once 30 minutes before bed. This will not put much pressure on them, which is important if they are really struggling.

3.    Last but not the least, an excellent way to help your kids learn is by rewarding them. Every time they do something well at school or at home, reward them with something they like. For example, if they had an excellent score in a subtraction test at school, reward them with their favourite dinner or dessert. It is a simple technique yet it can be very effective as it will encourage the child to continue doing well to receive these treats.

With these tips up your sleeve you do not have to stress too much if your child is struggling. As long as you are doing your best to help, there is not much more you can do. Be proud of your child’s achievements even if they are small.
